Excuses galore have been thrown out there. A stadium that's too large, a team too new to create a loyal fanbase, a city filled with baseball fans of other teams, and even a bad start time for game one. But when it comes down to it the lack of a sell out is flat out embarrassing. Rumors even surfaced that washed up rock star Alice Cooper will buy the remaining tickets if the D'Backs fail to sell out by game time.
But Mark Grace said it best on Cold Pizza Wednesday Morning.
"Let me tell you about Arizona fans. They don't show up for anything. It's the same in all sports. Now if they're giving away a bobblehead or shooting off some fireworks-- Arizona Diamondbacks announcer Mark Grace
Can you say D-League:
- Former Arizona forward and NBA early entrant Marcus Williams went 0-for-6 in his preseason NBA debut.
- Mustafa Shakur did not even play in his debut, instead earning the dreaded DNP CD.
- Ivan Radenovic decided against the NBDL and is playing in Spain for the same team as Lakers forward Marc Gasol and former Clippers forward Peja Drobjnak.
Chris (C-Ro) Rodgers is playing in Belgium by the way.
