Crank that Wildcat

In between 10 hours of drinking at this Saturday's USC/Arizona game, I did manage to watch a football game. I don't remember either of the two first half fumbles but the box score proves that they occurred.

What I do remember is that Arizona, like it has in the past stepped up in a big game. (See home wins over Cal and UCLA in the past two years.) The Wildcats have nothing to be ashamed of except for their four previous losses.

The Good:

The Wildcats defense held USC to 130 passing yards and forced Mark Sanchez into two interceptions.

Punter Keenan Crier averaged 48 yards a punt including an 83 yarder.

The Bad:

Arizona's offense is regressing as the Arizona Daily Star's Ryan Finley points out. The Wildcats are 74th out of 119 teams in total offense, up from last year but nowhere near where the Air Zona spread was supposed to be at this point of the season.

Willie Tuitama continues to show he is incapable of moving out of the pocket or creating time to throw. He was sacked a record tying eight times. Meanwhile, the Arizona defensive line is struggling to get sacks. Louis Holmes stock is falling and the D-Line is on pace for just 24 sacks. He has only one.

The Ugly: Former Arizona offensive lineman Adam Hawes who played for Mike Stoops is calling for a coaching change.

Non-football highlights:

1. Chanting "Dirty Sanchez" with Mark Sanchez' parents standing near by. Whoops.
2. Walking around with a 36 pack. That's right a bonus pack with 6 extra beers. I love Costco.
3. My buddy Darren picking off a pass from two USC fans playing catch, followed by him yelling "All Day" and giving me a chest bump.

Must see:
Very underrated footage of Jason Williams (AKA white chocolate) in his prime.

I forgot how much I enjoyed watching him play. Because coaches tried to harness his game and take away his creativity, he has become a shell of his old self, firing away on a wild 3-pointer once in a while and no longer exhibiting the ballhandling and passing which made him so unique. Notice in the footage there are no Miami Heat highlights.
